Tomb Raider
It was dusk. I could feel the oppressive heat beating down on me, as I stood there in awe, Ramsey’s tomb silhouetted against the setting sun. Creeping down the steep mountain side, I navigated my way around the sentries vacant gaze. Then creeping up beside them, I stabbed one in the back, leaving him writhing on the ground in pain. The other sentry, alerted to my presence, spun around and struck me in the side of my face. Clutching my face in pain, I managed to withdraw my knife, and shove it deep into his gut. I dumped their bodies, behind some shrubs and left them for the vultures. I was in.
Feeling my way down the darkened passage, I saw the guarded wooden gates, to Ramsey’s sacred burial chamber. But their was one more obstacle that I would have to overcome. Standing just a short distance in front of me, were two heavily armed guards clad in ceremonial armour. Panic clouded my vision, but it was swiftly replaced with another emotion; adrenaline. My heart pounded furiously, pumping much needed blood, to every region of my body. Gliding through the darkness, I approached the guards and dispatched one with a swift blow to the neck. Rounding on the second guard, I sent him flying with a flurry of kicks, into the hard earthen walls.
Noticing the gleam of metal, I ducked and rolled along the smooth ground, as barbed arrows spun out from hidden alcoves, embedded deeply in the walls. Jumping over the gaping chasm that had been concealed in the floor, I sprinted to the now nearby chamber doors, and yanked them open with a tug. I could feel the elation coursing through my veins, as I gazed longingly at the mahogany engraved tomb. With trepidation I opened the lid of the coffin to see the mummified remains of Ramsey’s the second, king over Egypt.
Suddenly, a mist arose shifting and swirling, drenched with evil it felt heavy and oppressive. Eyes shone red as blood, in stark contrast to the gloom of the mist. It stirred, a primal instinct sent shivers down my spine. Ducking behind a monolith I froze, scared into submission, I could only watch helplessly as the evil figure, set off deep into the mist. The footsteps resonating, as they receded down the corridor. The beast has awaken.
